Policy statement

We're a registered BAS agent. This statement sets out the professional and ethical standards we hold ourselves to, and how we make sure we meet them.

Our commitments

  • We work as professional bookkeepers, and we hold ourselves to that standard.
  • We follow the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) Professional Code of Conduct.
  • We follow the TASA 2009 Code of Conduct for Registered BAS Agents (“the Code”).
  • We support and promote the ethical standards of the tax profession.
  • We meet our own personal and business tax and compliance obligations.

How we keep those commitments

  • We run a Quality Management System (described below).
  • We complete at least 30 hours of Continuing Professional Education every year.
  • We give our team the training and resources to understand and apply the current business and compliance obligations that affect our clients.
  • We give our team the training and resources to understand and apply the Code.
  • We actively encourage adherence to the Code, and we expect it from everyone in the business.
  • We maintain a culture of transparency, accountability and ethical conduct, and of compliance with the Code and the tax laws.

Our Quality Management System

Our Quality Management System sets out how we:

  • provide our services;
  • communicate with clients;
  • review the work we have done;
  • supervise and control that work;
  • keep records of the services we provide; and
  • recognise when earlier work needs to be amended or corrected, and what we must do when it does, including where a statement made to the ATO or another government agency was false or misleading.

If a concern is raised about a team member

This applies to concerns about performance, including any breach of the Code.

  • Team members have systems they can use to report concerns.
  • We protect any team member who raises a concern.
  • We have processes to manage and address underperformance.
  • We keep appropriate records of actual or potential breaches of the Code.

Our team members

  • They are supervised and reviewed as needed to keep the quality of our service high.
  • They are trained and supported to keep their skills and knowledge up to date.
  • They provide services to you on our behalf only if they have not been disqualified by the Tax Practitioners Board.
  • They have had police checks where required, as part of making sure our team meets the requirements of being fit and proper persons.
  • Their remuneration takes into account their skill, their experience and their adherence to the Code.

Our principles

As the Code requires, we uphold the principles of honesty and integrity, independence, confidentiality and competence.

We take reasonable care to understand your circumstances and to make sure the tax laws are applied correctly to them, both in the statements we make on your behalf and in the advice we give you. We will explain your rights and obligations under the relevant tax laws, and tell you about anything that could significantly affect your decision to engage us.
